Letter to the Editor submitted January 11, 2003 In a classic case of cutting off one's nose to spite one's face, the Middletown Town Council rejected the services of Paul Roderick to sit on the all-volunteer newly-established Roads & Utilities Advisory Committee. Paul is a retired licensed steamfitter with 33 years of experience in the trade with enough knowledge and experience to work in nuclear power plants. During his career he has installed pipes in most of the large industrial plants and sewer plants in Rhode Island and New England. He also spent 4 years in the Air Force as a Construction Equipment Operator and Mechanic. His experience and knowledge would have been invaluable to the fledgling new board; however, Paul lives on Turner Road and has been one of the most outspoken residents concerning the bidding process and construction techniques used in the ongoing Turner Road project. He, along with Ronald Santa, even developed an internet web site in which they documented the problems with this project and asked a series of embarrassing questions. So Paul was not appointed and the "nose was cut off". Is it any wonder why the Town doesn't smell that good! Ronald G. Santa 277 Turner Road Middletow, RI 0842 |
